Trauma and Addiction
As many of my readers know, I frequently facilitate workshops that deal with psychological trauma -- personal trauma, the trauma of addictions, vicarious trauma, cultural trauma, and so on. I’ve created a resource package that provides much of the information I cover in these workshops. The package is available here (attached, as pdf, to the bottom of this post).
Here’s a preview of the items in the resource package:
- Maps of the stages in self-awareness (and spirituality)
- Maps of the stages in trauma and addiction
- A map of the recovery process for addiction
- Excerpts from Grain of Truth and High Life, my new addictions book
- A chart showing the link between childhood development and later addictions
- Suggestions for working with trauma and addictions
- A guide for dealing with emotional conflicts
- A guide for effective therapeutic responses
- Health practices from Chi Kung
- An illustration of the dynamics of trauma
- A guide for using creativity with addictions and trauma (particularly with teens)
- Suggestions for self-care and organizational health
- Strategies for leading and managing groups
- Recommended reading
- Book list for creativity and psychology
- A model of the self, and suggestions for the development of greater self-awareness.
Feel free to share, distribute, copy, and use this material. But please ensure that my name, which appears on the material, stays with it.
And of course, if you want to learn much more about the above topics, take a workshop…
